Mara Jade

Mara Jade is a strong, complex female character, While competent, she is flawed. 

Compared to Star Wars' sole iconic female character, Princess Leia, Mara has a sharper and sarcastic manner, and of course, she had to go through the painful realization her service is to an evil cause. But both women are strong without sacrificing their femininity.
Mara, with her attitude and her Jedi skills, is just plain fun, especially in opposition—or in partnership—with Luke.

She was previously an "Emperor's Hand"—a special agent—for Emperor Palpatine.

Mara's first confrontation with Luke Skywalker, whom she swears to kill to avenge The Old Empire. This was re-inforced by Chloe Skywalkers telepathic command to assassinate Luke and plaguing her thoughts; upon learning this situation, Luke vows to help Mara break Chloe's hold on her, regardless of the danger she poses to him. Toward the end, she turns against the Empire, and resolves her anger toward Luke, and silences the command. Over the course of the timeline, Luke recognizes in Mara an underdeveloped affinity for the Force; and although she initially resists Jedi training, she eventually becomes a Jedi.


Jade was raised as a servant and assassin to Emperor Palpatine and became a high-level Force-using operative. As an Emperor's Hand, Jade carried out the Emperor's bidding, killing Rebels and corrupt Imperials alike with cold professionalism, even as a young woman. As Palpatine's assassin, she received top-notch training from experts in a variety of fields as well as training in the Force, which was continued by Luke Skywalker years later. After Palpatine's death; however, the death of her Master caused her to go rogue.

Eventually during the predations of Supreme Leader Chloe she is forced to work with Skywalker, and develops a grudging respect for him.

Over the years, she continues to work as a smuggler and interact with Skywalker intermittently, training at his Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4 for a short period of time. She also continues to grow closer to Skywalker, especially when Callista Ming leaves forever and works alongside him on numerous occasions. The two will finally realize while on a mission, that they are in love, and want to spend the rest of their lives together.

After marrying Skywalker, Mara Jade took the surname Skywalker and devoted her life to the New Jedi Order, becoming a Master in her own right.

After becoming a Master, Jade Skywalker will take her niece Jaina Solo as an apprentice until she reaches Knighthood. During that time, she participated in Jedi offensives.
She will continue to serve by the side of her husband as a Jedi Master.
